Ruby, a foundling, is helped by the Doctor when goblins try to take her baby foster sister. The goblins try to take revenge by taking Ruby out of time. Rescued by the Doctor she joins him on his travels until she finally meets her birth mum and stays on Earth, joining UNIT.
