Programme Description

The TARDIS materialises in the future on the planet Pluto, and the Doctor finds things have changed: There is now a breathable atmosphere, and the Doctor is surprised to find a human colony living under the light of six artificial suns.

The Doctor and Leela fall in with a group of rebels, and there they find that the Suns have been manufactured by the Company, headed by an Usurian known as the Collector, and represented by a human, Gatherer Hade.

The Usurians enslave planets through economic means and continue by charging extortionate taxes. The citizens are kept under control by PCM gas which is pumped throughout the complex.

The Doctor aids the rebels by leading them to the PCM plant. With gas production ceased the rebels rise up against the Company and hurl Gatherer Hade to his death. The Doctor reprograms the Company's computer, and unable to cope with the loss of profit the Collector reverts to his natural form and is rendered harmless.
