Programme Description

A freak accident causes two ships - the Empress and the Hecate - to become locked together after emerging from Hyperspace. The Doctor, Romana and K-9 go down to see if they can assist.

On board the Empress are scientists Tryst and Della. Tryst had devised the Continuous Event Transmuter, a device which is able to take, and store, land masses from planets and preserve them, allowing the observers to watch any specimens in their native habitats.

The CET has become unstable as a result of the crash, and some of the specimens, the Madrels, have escaped. At the same time someone has been smuggling Vraxoin, a deadly drug. The Empress captain had taken the drug which was the reason for the collision.

The Doctor discovers that Tryst was the one smuggling the drug which is manufactured from the material that is left behind from a decomposing Mandrel. The Doctor manages to stop Tryst, and separate the two ships.
