Programme Description

Medical student Martha Jones's day starts much like any other - trying to push through the people on London's street trying to get to the Royal Hope hospital where she works. On the way a strange figure crosses her path and takes off his tie.

When she reaches the hospital it is much like any other day; she meets fellow colleagues and goes round the wards with other students to meet the patients - including a woman with a salt deficiency and Mr. Smith, a man who is feeling ill who appears to have two heart beats.

Later in the day Martha gets a call from her sister. Her sister suggests meeting for lunch but Martha isn't keen on the idea as it is raining heavily outside - but it is only raining on the hospital - and the rain is not falling - it's going up.

In a flash the hospital is transported to the moon. As people start becoming hysterical at being in a building on the moon the Doctor and Martha meet properly and go out onto a balcony. A force field is protecting the hospital, but Martha realises the oxygen will run out in time.

As they watch their captors - the Judoon - arrive on the moon and a whole army of Judoon enter the hospital. They are searching for an escaped alien and start to catalogue everyone inside the hospital - which is bad news for the Doctor.

The alien they are really after is calling herself Florence Finnegan. She is a plasmavore, and by sucking on her victims' blood she can genetically disguise herself. By drinking the blood of Mr. Stoker she was able to appear as human when the Judoon scan her. Once someone has been scanned the Judoon out a mark on the wrist so they won't be scanned again.

Florence plans to escape by using the hospital's MRI machine, the power of which she has increased, to destroy all life on the moon and part of the Earth, leaving the Judoon ships at her disposal. The Doctor tricks Florence into drinking his blood. The Judoon register the Doctor as deceased, and Martha uses a Judoon device to scan Florence. Now she has Time Lord blood she registers as Time Lord, and Judoon execute her.

But not before she sets the MRI into overload. The Judoon, now that sentence has been passed, leave the hospital. The Doctor, after being revived by Martha, manages to stop the overload. Just before the air finally runs out the Judoon send the hospital back to Earth.

Later that evening the Doctor invites Martha for a trip in the TARDIS as a thank-you. Martha does not believe the TARDIS can travel in time - until the Doctor disappears and returns with his tie off...
